New Terry Harrison Paintings for Sale (Part 2)

Posted: Thursday, 31 July 2025 @ 14:03

Welcome to the Terry Harrison Newsletter.

in the last newsletter I shared a number of newly released Terry Harrison Originals for sale on the website.

Well we have been busy and have more of his originals from the last 2 decades of his career on the website for sale - so I will share them with you now!

I have broadly categorised them and as with the last time, the images are just thumbnails for a taster - use the links to visit the website for the full images if you are interested in any of them.

Coastal and Nautical

Turning for Home 13 x 19 inches Watercolour on paper

This painting suggests the end of a beach walk when its time to return home before dark. Terry was masterful at creating a glow of light in his paintings, and this golden sunset reflects beautifully in the water and the wet sand.

On the Quay 9.5 x 16 inches Watercolour on watercolour paper

This wonderful scene is at Sennen Cove. Its a beautiful place to visit and the cafe on the front serves the best 'chowder'. The food has to be ferried across the road so that the diner can sit on the sea front to eat it whilst enjoying the view.

Day Dreaming 12.5 x 20 inches watercolour on paper

Terry painted a limited number of tropical paintings, although he would be the first to say he loved the light there. This deserted beach scene features a wooden building and boat which seemingly appear abandoned, however, this would have been a Sunday morning in St Lucia where the churches were full and the beaches were deserted.

Day at the Yard 11.5 x 17 inches Watercolour on paper

Terry so enjoyed coming across a scene such as this, he enjoyed painting the clutter, but often selected an unusual viewpoint such as this one, with the sea behind him.

Sails at Daybreak 9 x 13 inches Watercolour on paper

Terry depicts the clutter of buildings, boats, rigging and sails with such skills, suggesting a mass of detail in this calm atmospheric painting.

Glorious Light 13 x 18 inches Watercolour on paper

There is a wonderful calmness about this painting, you can almost hear the gentle lapping of the waves in the shallows. A beautiful transparent turquoise glows through the water as the warm light just catches the breaking wave.

High Summer 12.5 x 19.5 inches Watercolour on paper

This rather special painting features Polperro in Cornwall on a busy Summers Day. The colour of the buildings are especially appealing as all the colours withing the scene are reflected upon the white surfaces. There are subtle pinks, mauves, blues and golds all glowing with light.

Watching the Breakers 9.5 x 14 inches Watercolour on paper

Turquoise, Cobalt, Ultramarine and Midnight Green all combine and result in a lovely painting, full of movement. You can almost hear the draw of the tide pulling against the shore and the bubbling of the foam as the wave rushes towards the shore.

Evening Walk 12.5 x 20 inches watercolour on paper

The sun has just dipped out of sight, allowing the golden light behind the hills to contrast with the dark clouds, all of which is reflected onto the wet sands. The boats stranded at low tide give a feeling of solitude, whilst the expanse of this scene is emphasised by the tiny figures taking their last walk of the day whilst there is still light.

Country Scenes:

A Favourite Walk 13.5 x 20 inches watercolour on paper

This is one of Terry's early paintings, painted around 2000 on Arches paper. It is a scene he called 'Summer Reflections' which he used as a teaching subject, however, this is the early work on which his teachings were based. It is based at Wyndham's Pool in Yateley Common his favourite walk with his dog Molly.

Amongst the Bluebells 11.5 x 17.5 inches watercolour on paper

An iconic Terry painting, a rustic building with dappled sunlight in a sunlit glade, and to top it all, the bluebells are flowering! It is as if we have come upon this scene whilst walking in the woods. There is a quietness to it, the misty background leading us into the painting past the birch trees surrounded by the scent of bluebells.

Cotswold Door 10.5 x 15 inches watercolour on paper

This painting has a wonderful glow about it. The rich warm stone seems to radiate sunshine emphasised by the lovely deep shadows cast by the roses above the doorway.

Hardly a Ripple 11 x 15.5 inches watercolour on watercolour paper

This is a lush painting full of rich autumnal colours. There are multiple washes used to build up this scene, ensuring the viewer feels immersed in it. The barge is moored by the side allowing us to enjoy all those reflections without a ripple. Terry used to live near a canal which he walked frequently with his dog Molly.

Snow Scenes:

A Fresh Fall 13 x 20 inches watercolour on paper

There is something very calming about this painting. The expanse of fresh snow suggests a silent world, there are no footprints and no sign of life, it is as if the early morning light is just catching the snow and creating a pale yellow light. There is a wintry warm glow on the horizon and the near side of the barn.

The Donkey Bridge Tryst 18 x 24“ acrylic on box canvas

One of two box canvases featuring a winter scenes including pheasants, this is a wonderful example of Terrys masterful approach to painting the subtle colours of winter so well. The frost on the trees seems quite magical as the sun appears to set behind the trees in this late afternoon painting.

A Welcome Sight 9.25 x 13 inches watercolour on paper

This is a barn Terry found in NC USA. The snow definitely was not there as Terry always visited NC in May to teach, however, he was a dab hand at changing the season in any landscape, a skill not many succeed with. The signature placement on this painting is very unusual, Terry has used the colour he has on his palette when painting the shadows of the snow, and signed his work between two sections of blue watercolour.

I hope you enjoyed viewing those - they are wonderful to see in real life.

Finally a reminder that we have 10% off all our brushes this month until the end of August - simple enter code BRUSH10 at checkout for the discount to be applied.

Thank you all and Happy Painting
