There is something very calming about this painting.
The expanse of fresh snow suggests a silent world, there are no footprints and no sign of life, it is as if the early morning light is just catching the snow and creating a pale yellow light. There is a wintry warm glow on the horizon and the near side of the barn.
We are drawing into the painting past the barn. You can almost hear the crunch of the snow underfoot.
Terry's pencil lines can be made out throughout the painting adding another dimension to this work close up.
