Winter Afternoon 11 x 15 inches Watercolour on Paper

This painting has a wonderful etherial light quality to it. The cluster of buildings and tracery of winter trees in the later afternoon sun is such a good example of Terry's skill. What is also interesting about this piece is that on the reverse is a line drawing which Terry had prepared for another painting, which he either discarded, or painted this piece without checking the back first! The drawing shows how few lines and lack of details he needed to paint and how the details were always painted rather than drawn.

This beautiful painting features on the Title page of Terry's book "Painting Watercolour Snow Scenes"
