A wonderful old boat being repaired on the quayside was a firm favourite of Terry's to paint. This is a great example of his great use of wet into wet techniques in both the sky, distance and hull. The addition of the van with its doors open adds reality to the scene, many artists would have left the van out, but its inclusion makes this painting work so well and balances the mid ground well.
