Hi and welcome to the Terry Harrison Newsletter.
Read on for a great August offer on Brushes!
First though I thought it was would give you an update on my own progress as I have been continuing my experimentation with inks and watercolour.
I have been making an effort to try and sketch daily in between everything else I have on. The sketch book is becoming a regular feature of my evenings as I try out new techniques or methods whilst we have a show on in the background.
I have actually just finished the little A5 pad that I was using and now have a much thicker sketch book that I am looking forward to slowly filling.
Some advice I was given was to deliberately make a bit of a mess of the first page because its not about the finished article, its all about trying new things out, seeing what works and what does not.
Practicing through repetition on the small elements and then pulling them all together into a larger piece.
So thats what I will do! I'll share the results next week but for now here are some of my efforts in the last week or so:

Some basic inked trees and then a bit of dabbling with watercolour

This was a scene from one of my Photos this month as part of my Water project - you can find out more here.

I'm really trying to focus on perspective and tree foliage - this was copy of a Martin Lachmair ink

Own composition

An example of an evening sketching!

This was a photo of durham that I used to try and sketch perspective and then threw on some colour - not finished

This little study really showed me how important lines can be in determining a shape - I know that seems obvious!

A good example of how I use the book to try out different pens and inks

More doodles and a fictitious scene

Very rough composition sketches
It's great seeing some progress, although sometimes it can seem like a backwards one when things don't go to plan!
It'll be good to look back on this after 6 months and (hopefully) see improvements.
Now for that offer!
In July I gave you all 10 % off all the paints, so in August I am moving onto the brushes.
