There are very few canvas paintings remaining of Terry's, especially those featuring bluebells and this one is particularly lovely, with its shafts of dappled sunlight falling upon the bluebells in the foreground. Especially appealing are the reflections in the puddles suggesting a recent downpour or a wet Spring, then just beyond the gate is a glorious landscape bathed in sunshine. 

This is a great example of Terry's skill, delicate brush textures and a haze of blue and mauve, a very special calm painting.
