Each year, Bourton-on-the-Water looks especially magical at Christmas time when the village erects a Christmas tree in the centre of the river Windrush. The village is beautifully lit with twinkling lights and decorations which reflect in the water creating a beautiful scene.

Its a magical time of year in the village and Terry's favourite season here. One year shortly after arriving to the village we had a tremendous snow fall at the beginning of December just after the tree was erected. This painting was inspired then, however it was painted a few of years later and Terry added Maggie and 'friends' to the scene.
