Step 1
– load the brush with Burnt Umber and Ultramarine to create a grey. Don’t have the brush too wet, then stipple randomly over the wall area (you can use the straight edge of a piece of paper to create a straight line).
Step 2
– when the paint is dry, use a small detail brush or Half Rigger. Load the brush with a stronger mix of Burnt Umber and Ultramarine. Pick out the stone shapes with an outline.
Step 3
– continue with the detail – for a finishing touch, you can stipple other colours over the stones such as greens to create a moss effect.
