Description
This DVD is an ideal companion to the book, Sea and Sky in Watercolour.
Using tried and tested techniques I show you how to create three very different paintings, starting with a dramatic scene with crashing waves breaking over rocks, followed by a tranquil, sunlit lighthouse and finally a colourful sunset, casting a gleam of light onto the waves as they break onto the shore.
In each project I show you how to use masking fluid to create the wisps of breakers, and dramatic spray spilling over the rocks as well as how to create light from the setting sun before moving onto the different skies which will form the backdrop of each painting, the rocks and finally the sea itself.
I show you various techniques to create clouds, rocks and waves – how to mix and apply subtle colours, how to change the mood of a painting with light and shade, which brushes to choose and how to use them to create special effects, how to lift paint, and add texture.
Most of all I show you how to keep it simple.
